NASARAWA POLICEMAN ARRESTED FOR PLANTING SUSPICIOUS ITEM IN CHURCH
The Nasarawa State PoliceCommand has arrested a police officer for allegedly placing a suspicious item inside the ERCC Church along Wamba road in Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
The police officer, whose name could not be ascertained as at the time of filing this report, was said to have entered the church with the item on Friday. He was on his way out when security officials at the gate asked him for the item he went in with.
Witnesses told PREMIUM TIMES that an argument ensued between the police officer and church security officials.
A witness, Ibrahim Danladi, said the church security officials forced the officer to show them the item, which had been placed under one of the chairs in the church.
“He confessed before the people and police that he was the one that put the items under the chair,” Mr Danladi said.
The police officer was later arrested and taken into custody at the divisional police headquarters in Akwanga before he was transferred to state Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Although many of the church members said the item was a bomb, a high ranking police officer who did not want his name in print said it was a teargas canister. He said the police officer was currently serving in Kaduna but was formerly serving in Akwanga and only visited his last place of primary assignment.
When contacted, the Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, Umar Numan, confirmed the arrest of the police officer. He explained that the officer is under investigation at the state CID.
Mr Numan said the officer was arrested for placing a tear gas canister inside a church during the Good Friday church service. He said the officer will be paraded before journalists on April 22, 2014, Tuesday.

enigma-meet-12-year-old-conjoined-twins-worshipped-as-a-divine-incarnation/
Conjoined twins Shivanath and Shivram Sahu caused quite a stir when they were born in India, with some people in their village worshipping them as divine incarnations and while one doctor has said that it would be possible to separate them, the 12-year-old boys, who were born joined at the waist, are determined to remain together.
The twins share two legs and four arms and work in tandem to get around. They are believed to share the same stomach but have
independent lungs, hearts and brains.
The twins are able to walk down the stairs of their simple split-level home and even run on
all six limbs to play cricket and other games with neighboring children.
With practice, they have learned to do all their basic daily chores with minimal fuss, including showering, eating, getting dressed and combing each other’s hair. They are also talented academics and considered among the top students at their local school, much to the pride of their doting father, Raj Kumar, 45, who also has five daughters.
Doctors believe it’s possible to separate the twins but there will be drastic consequences for Shivanath, who appears to be the weaker of the two twins. Shivram would likely keep both legs and could start living a more normal life while Shivanath would be left with no legs and needing full-time care.
Hence the twins and their father are adamant they will not be parted. Their father told MailOnline: ‘For everyone it is good fun to watch my children, but only I understand all the problems they have.
During rainy season it becomes difficult for them to walk and when one wants to sit the other has to lie down. But they don’t fight. They have similar opinions and if one says he wants to play the other one agrees. God has created them like this so they have to walk like they do.
They will remain like this. I don’t want anything else. Even if doctors say so, I won’t get my children separated. I have no interest in money. I’m the one who will work hard to nourish them. I don’t need any help.’
Shivram also said:
‘We don’t wish to get separated. We will stay like this even when we grow old. We want to live as we are.’

The only permanent thing in the world is change. Less than four months after its inundation, the Enugu mystery pool has dried up triggering major soil excavation by new visitors who had come for healing in the pool. The town itself which became a tourist destination a few months back, has had a fair share of the change as it has become a ghostly abandoned place.
No people and vehicular movement were present; the motorcyclists have relocated to major towns while the plastic container’ sellers at the junction leading to the forest have abandoned the business. The dreaded path to the forest took 20 minutes walk to the pool with heart palpitation.
When Saturday Vanguard visited the pool recently, it was found to be completely drained with trenches here and there dug by desperate visitors with a view to getting water from the soil for healing.
Saturday Vanguard had earlier visited the pool which many claimed had healing powers. Thousands of people from far and near visited the pool, dipped their bodies in the water, drank from the water, cut trees around the basin of the pool and took away sand within the precincts of the stream with the belief that it had supernatural healing powers.
The seasonally flooded pool basin now look different from the surrounding upland. Most parts of the soil have been excavated by new visitors to the stream who rather than being utterly disappointed, dig up the pool’s basin to see if they could get some water for healing.
Leaves in the pool basin are compacted and had turned gray. The soil also exhibit features of dehydration, which meant they have been dried up for a period of time. There were not even water stains on the trunks of trees which was an indication of complete level of dryness.
They explained that its inundation in the first place was not as result of heavy rainfall but natural.
Villagers who spoke to Saturday Vanguard ruled out the hot temperature as reason for its dryness, maintaining that it was natural as it was not the first time the pool will dry or be flooded.
Christopher, who lives in Umuaga, said: “It does not matter the type of weather, even in the rainy season, the pool may not be flooded but may be aided by the level of rainfall. Why we believe the pool is mysterious is because it could spring up during the dry season and that is why it is called Oririmiri.”
A few persons Saturday Vanguard met at the stream said they have made the place their second home not only to watch development on the pool but also to attract blessings.
They narrated that it is those few who just heard about the pool and its healing power that visit the area. “It is those who just heard about it and usually from far places that visit because there is nobody close that has not heard about it. So, we welcome them and sell some items to the like the calendar with details about the water,” said Emeka.
Asked how the visitors felt when they discovered that the water had dried up, he stated: “they feel disappointed. That is why some of them dug up some areas to get water. Recently, some people came from the North and they had to dig up to six feet before getting water which they drank and collected in plastic containers to take home.” he stated.
Villagers, Okada count losses
Just as villagers and petty traders lament the slide in the profits they make on their brisk businesses, others including commercial motorcyclists noted that many of them had to relocate to the heart of the town to eke out a living.
“We sold a lot before now because people throng the village. In fact, every part of the country must have heard about the river and that enough is a blessing for us. But you cannot compare the commercial activities then with what you have now. Not only the transport business benefited, everybody selling one thing or other other benefited,” said a petty trader in the area.
An okada who identifies himself as Dan said: “For me as an okada man, these days, I can stay there looking for passengers but none was forthcoming. You will not make money. Last November when it surged to January this year, we made a lot of money. I personally made over N20,000 daily then, but nobody is coming again because the water has dried and no clever okada would wait at the junction searching for passengers,” Dan said.
Asked what how he used the money, he said: “I paid my house rent and bought another okada and also set up my wife on business. It has been blessing for us and I can’t wait for another opportunity. I pray the water comes up again soon,” Dan stated.
Boko Haram Strikes Again! Kills JAMB Candidates in Borno
No fewer than 210 persons, including UTME candidates were killed in multiple attacks orchestrated by members of the Boko Haram sect in the volatile Borno State between Thursday and Friday.
The JAMB candidates who lost their lives in the attacks were said to be on their way to various exams centres at Dikwa, Kala Balge, Gambulga and Gwoza towns.
The Senator representing Borno Central Senatorial District, Ahmed Zannah who confirmed the attack to newsmen accused the military of complicity.
“There was a siege on one of the schools in Dikwa town just after midnight on Thursday. I got to know from my people in the area that the hoodlums attacked a school, killed three teachers and two security men on duty; they also razed the school library and escaped into the night through the bushes,” he added.
In a similar attack on Thursday, gunmen believed to be Boko Haram members also attacked Kala Balge town about 100km away from Dikwa and killed three villagers.
The senator claimed that the attackers were all clad in military attires and spoke English language fluently.
He said, “It is a must for me to speak since the people lives are involved and they are my people. All these are happening in my constituency and it will be wrong to keep quiet. I feel so much pained and would not have spoken but definitely my conscience will not let me do that.”
The embittered Senator claimed that 210 people were massacred by the gunmen, who invaded the towns in two armored personnel cars and seven double cabin pickups.
According to him, they attacked a Teachers College in Dikwa and killed seven people, burnt down the school library and administrative block.
Speaking further, Ahmed said Kala Balge was the most affected community as 60 were left dead after the attack, adding that after they had left there, they attacked three other towns in the area where a total of 150 persons were killed

BBM app update brings stickers, support for sending larger files
Remember that big BBM update that BlackBerry teased back at the end of February? Well it's live today, bringing with it support for stickers and other new features.
The biggest addition in today's BlackBerry Messenger update is the BBM Shop, which houses sticker packs that users can buy and then use in their chats. Sticker packs contain between 20 and 25 stickers that've been designed by artists and also relate to popular brands like Shaun the Sheep and the WWE, the latter of which is giving away a sticker pack to celebrate the upcoming WrestleMania 30 pay-per-view. Other packs are available for free or $1.99 and are paid for through a device's app store.
If stickers aren't quite your thing, don't fret, because BlackBerry's included some other new features in today's update that most every BBM user should appreciate. The first is support for sending files up to 16MB in size. This feature is enabled on BlackBerry 10, Android and iPhone devices and enables users to share higher-quality images and longer videos. The second new feature in today's BBM update is the ability to send photos in multi-person chats.
This update brings BBM for BlackBerry 10 up to version 10.3.1, the BlackBerry OS app to version 8.2 and both the Android and iOS apps to version 2.1. The new version of BBM doesn't appear to be live in the various app stores quite yet, but BlackBerry says that it's rolling out today, so you BBM addicts should keep an eye out for it in the coming hours. To help keep you busy until the update hits, I've embedded BlackBerry's brief video demo of BBM stickers down below.
How many of you use BBM on a regular basis? If you do, which platform do you use it on?
